15 suspected NPAs die in Batangas clashes

The deaths of 15 suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Batangas on Tuesday night indicates the end of insurgency in the province.

This is the assessment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines' 202nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Arnulfo Burgos.

Burgos hails the result of the operations conducted by the soldiers from the 730th Combat Group and the Nasugbu Police.

Nine suspected NPAs were initially killed in an encounter with government forces in Barangay Kaylaway at 8:30 pm.

This was followed by another battle in Barangay Aga.

Burgos said the fatalities in the suspected NPA's side included the platoon leader and the secretary of Guerilla Unit 3 based in Batangas.
