MRT wants NBI to probe detachment of coaches

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be asked to handle the investigation into the detachment of train coaches of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3).

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez says, he has instructed the MRT Safety and Security Unit to get the help of the NBI.

He also wants a third party expert to join the probe.

MRT's initial investigstion showed the "messma" card from the detached train cars was missing.

This card is like a black box that records the interventions being implemented in the MRT trains.

Chavez suspects sabotage could be the motive behind the incident.

He noted that one must be technically skilled to be able to remove the object from the train.
