COTABATO CITY – A lone gunman killed the father of a bride in a Muslim wedding ceremony inside the mosque of a popular commercial complex in this province over the weekend.
The imam was reading the traditional marriage sermons when a man wielding a 9-mm pistol suddenly entered the mosque and shot the victim before shooting the groom as well.
Police identified the fatality as Hadji Nasif Sampiano, 52 of Maguindanao; and the wounded groom as Abil Gampong Balindong, 35, of Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
The gunman and a cohort casually escaped on a motorcycle, past the mall’s blue guards.
Sampiano died on the spot, while Balindong was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
