Former Quezon City Police Chief Edgar Tinio and Former Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Office (PNP-NCRPO) Director Joel Pagdilao have been dismissed from police service.

The announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella during the press briefing in Malacanang on Monday.

Abella said Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the dismissal orders on Thursday last week.

Serious neglect of duty and serious irregularities were cited as reasons.

The two are being held responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in their areas during their term.

In July last year, Tinio and Pagdilao were among the five generals linked by President Rodrigo Duterte to illegal drug operations.

The police officials had denied their involvement in drug trade.
