President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the holding of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to May 14, 2018.
He also mandates that all current barangay and SK officials will continue to perform their functions in holdover capacities until June 30, 2018.
He also states that after 2018, these polls will be held every three years and the date shall fall on the second Monday of May.
These declarations are contained in Administrative Order 14952 the President signed last Tuesday.
Prior to this, the elections for barangay and SK were supposed to be held two weeks from now or on October 23, 2017.
