PWDs group slams NLRC decision

A group of persons with disabilities on Tuesday slammed the National Labor Relations Commission in Quezon City for “unjust decision” ordering them to pay 22 other PWDs some P29,826,04007.

Manuel Agcaoili of Tahanan Walang Hagdanan Inc., located in Cainta, Rizal, challenged the decision of labor arbiter Agnes Alexis Lucero-de Grano directing them to indemnify 22 members of the defunct Bahay Pangarap Sheltered Home formerly located in Novaliches, Quezon City.

He said there was injustice in the two orders of the NLRC.

On Oct. 24, 2013, labor arbiter Arden Anni ruled in favor of the complainants and ordered Tahanan Walang Hagdanan founded by a missionary nun to pay them P16,629,263.63, prompting the respondent to file a motion for reconsideration.

Last Aug. 11, Lucero-de Grano affirmed Anni’s order and even imposed a higher indemnification of P29,826,040.07.
