An autopsy has been conducted on the remains of University of Sto Tomas (UST) first year law student Horacio Castillo.

The procedure was done by members of the Manila Police District – Scene of the Crime Operatives (MPD-SOCO) at Arcanghel Funeral Homes in Sampaloc, Manila.

The 22-year-old freshman student's remains sustained bruises on the upper arms and burns from cigarettes and candles.

The autopsy confirmed Castillo died from hematoma or the abnormal collection of blood outside blood vessels usually caused by trauma.

His body was found by his parents early Monday morning in a funeral parlor.

A bystander found Castillo lying on a pavement in Balut, Tondo Manila on Sunday morning.

He and other people brought Castillo to Chinese General Hospital, where the student was declared dead on arrival.

When the parents learned of their son's whereabouts and went to the hospital, they were told Castillo's body was already taken to the funeral parlor.

The last time his father saw him was on Saturday night when he drove the victim to UST for an overnight stay.

Castillo was supposedly attending a welcome ceremony for new members of Aegis Juris fraternity.

This was after the student had survived a hazing activity a day before.
