The Metro Manila Development Authority announced the resumption of road repair works on 11 main thoroughfares in the cities of Caloocan, Pasig and Quezon City beginning late Friday night until Monday morning.

This came after the agency decided to allow the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region Office to continue its re-blocking operation and other road repair projects in the three cities.

In its advisory, the MMDA public information office said that DPWH-NCR will undertake road reblocking and repairs starting 11 p.m. Friday (Sept. 1) until Monday (Sept. 4), at the following areas: Quezon City, northbound lane of Carlos P. Garcia Avenue near Jacinto Street and between Velasquez and Alley; northbound lane of V. Luna Road from East Avenue to Kalayaan Avenue; northbound lane of Quirino Highway corner La Mesa Dam Road; southbound 2nd lane of Bonifacio Avenue between Dome Street to Sgt. Rivera Street; southbound 2nd lane of Mindanao Avenue after Tandang Sora fronting Shell Gas Station; southbound 3rd lane of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue between Kaingin Road to Dario Bridge; southbound truck lane of E. Rodriguez Avenue after Greenmeadows Avenue, and southbound truck lane of E. Rodriguez Avenue after Boni Avenue Flyover.

In Pasig City: southbound lane of Circumferential Road-5 (C-5 Road) near Julia Vargas Street, and northbound lane of Manila East Road infront of SM East Ortigas and in Caloocan, northbound lane of Mac Arthur Highway near Monumento Circle.

MMDA chairman Danilo Lim assured the public that all affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday. He advised motorists to avoid the affected areas and use alternate routes instead.

At present, the government is implementing a policy prohibiting diggings and other road works at daytime in a bid to further ease traffic in Metro Manila.

Under the policy, road repairs and rehabilitations on major thoroughfares must be done by contractors around 10 p.m. to make sure that the road will be passable to motorists by 5 a.m. the next day.

To do this, the government agencies will be requiring contractors to use quick dry cement on the road works to be able to meet the one-day curing period.

Also under the new guidelines, the DPWH will be responsible in preparing the traffic management plan of the road projects, and the plan will be reviewed by the MMDA.
