It has been a year since the Philippine government won the West Philippine Sea dispute against China at the United Nations’ Permanent Court of Arbitration.

To mark the occasion, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) conducted an aerial inspection over the Scarborough Shoal.

This place is also being referred to as Bajo de Masinloc and Panatag Shoal located between Macclesfield Bank and Luzon Island in the South China Sea.

In the video taken by the PCG, it was observed that two vessels of China have remained in the area.

The footage also showed the presence of two Chinese fishing boats and three Filipino fishing boats.

The PCG reports, although Chinese vessels still occupy the Scarborough Shoal, there have been no reported incidents of harassment being done against Filipino fishermen so far.

The Chinese coast guard used to forcibly drive Filipino fishermen away from this area which was declared a Philippine territory by the UN.
