Philippine National Police (PNP) Director Ronald dela Rosa has ordered the investigation into the death of a captured Abu Sayyaf member in Bohol.

Saad Samad Kiram, alias Abu Saad, was killed by his police escorts before dawn on Friday as he was being transported from Bohol District Jail to Bohol Provincial Jail.

Dela Rosa has tasked Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo, the civilian head of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS), to look into the incident.

As the group was near their destination, Saad had supposedly asked his police escorts to remove his handcuffs and allow him to defecate in a secluded spot.

Saad, however, reportedly ran away and the cops chased him.
