LTFRB dismayed with Leomarick owner’s defense on bus tragedy

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Martin Delgra is quite unsatisfied with the responses of the operator of Leomarick Trans bus company.

This was during the LTFRB’s investigation on the accident involving Leomarick Trans bus in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.

33 persons were killed while 43 were injured when the vehicle fell off a ravine on April 18, 2017.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Leomarick operator Leonardo Patulot insisted that there was an “extra driver” assigned to the vehicle.

But for some reason, the additional driver had supposedly alighted from the vehicle and he was not present when the mishap happened.

Delgra found the explanations unacceptable.

The LTFRB also said, the bus was out-of-line since its franchise does not cover Carranglan.

Leomarick Trans bus was also overcrowded reportedly with 75 passengers.

The board has set another hearing on the case on May 30, 2017.
