Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Ceasar Dulay reminds taxpayers to file their Internal Tax Returns (ITR) before the deadline on April 17 this year.

He says, there will be no extensions.

Dulay made these statements in a press conference on Wednesday morning.

The original deadline of April 15 falls on Black Saturday, a non-working holiday, so it was moved to April 17, which is a Monday.

Late filers will have to pay a 25 percent surcharge on the tax due, 20 percent interest per year and compromise penalties.

BIR’s target collection for taxable year of 2016 is P 1.8 trillion.

Dulay believes the bureau will be able to reach this goal.
