The third round of oral argument for the petition of Senator Leila De Lima will take place on Tuesday afternoon at the Supreme Court.
De Lima is asking the high tribunal to void the warrant of arrest issued for her by Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Judge Juanita Guerrero that resulted in the lawmaker’s detention at the PNP Custodial Center.
The oral arguments will resume at 2 pm.
Solicitor General Jose Calida will make an opening statement defending the drug charges filed by the Deparment of Justice against De Lima.
Then, justices will take turns subjecting Calida to interpellations.
In the last hearing, De Lima’s counsel, Former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, told the magistrates that the prosecution lacks concrete evidence to prove that the legislator is involved in the illegal drug trade in New Bilibid Prison.
