DOJ seeks merging of De Lima drug cases in one court

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed in Muntinlupa Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) motions seeking the consolidation of the three drug charges filed against Senator Leila De Lima in just one court.

DOJ Prosecutor Peter Ong is asking that the three cases be handled by Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 Judge Juanita Guerrero.

Guerrero was the one who issued a warrant of arrest against De Lima.

The two other cases were raffled off to branches 205 and 206.

The DOJ says, it is better for just one court to hear the case, instead of 3, since they will present the same sets of evidence and witnesses.

The motion states, “record shows that the cases arose from similar set of facts, common parties and issues and interrelated will be presented in court.”
