Fmr. Maguindanao Rep. Simeon Datumanong to be buried today

Former Maguindanao Second District Representative Simeon Datumanong will be buried today (March 1, 2017).

Datumanong’s remains are currently being brought to his hometown in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

81-year-old Datumanong passed away at 9:25 pm yesterday (Tuesday) at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City.

Datumanong died of heart attack.

He was confined in the hospital two weeks ago after falling into a coma.

The flag at the Deparment of Justice (DOJ) is flying at half-staff as a gesture of respect for Datumanong.

From 1992 to 2001, Datumanong served as a congressman for three terms.

Then he served as secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under Former President Gloria Arroyo from 2001 to 2003.

From January to December in 2003, he served as Justice Secretary.

After this, he went back to the House of Representatives, serving from 2007 until 2013.

Datumanong was charged with graft cases over the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) worth P 3.8 million.
