No TRO for De Lima from Supreme Court

Senator Leila De Lima fails to secure a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court.

This is to lift the warrant of arrest issued by Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Juanita Guerrero and to stop the hearings on the drug case filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) against the senator.

De Lima’s lawyers had asked the high tribunal to issue a TRO and a status quo ante order (SQAO).

They submitted a petition for certiorari for this purpose.

But on Tuesday, instead of releasing a TRO, SC ordered Muntinlupa RTC and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to comment on De Lima’s petition within 10 days.

SC has also scheduled an oral argument for the case on March 14 (Tuesday).

De Lima is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
