Makati rolls Lingkod Bayan caravan

The city government of Makati will hold the third leg of its Lingkod Bayan Caravan, a one-stop-shop offering basic and special services to city residents, today, September 10, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in front of the Pinagkaisahan Barangay Hall at the corner of Danlig and Tolentino streets.

Launched in August and scheduled twice a month, the caravan provides residents in every barangay a wide range of free services offered at the City Hall.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay has prioritized the program’s implementation in line with her thrust of proactive governance.

“We are inviting the residents of Barangay Pinagkaisahan to come to the barangay hall this Saturday and experience personalized services through our Lingkod Bayan Caravan,” Binay said.

The mayor said Makati residents should not pass up on the chance to be “pampered” by the city government right in their own barangay. “You only need to go to your barangay hall or another designated venue on the scheduled day to have a check-up and medicines that you may need, a haircut and a massage, reading glasses and many other services—all for free,” she said.

Residents can also pay their utility bills at the payment booths of Bayad Center, Manila Water and Meralco.

Binay said “children will enjoy free hot meals, parlor games and freebies, including colorful learning materials and hygiene kits.”

The caravan will also process new applications or renewal of Yellow Card, BLU Card, White Card, and PhilHealth registration by the Makati Social Welfare Department.

A team from the City Civil Registration Office (CCRO) shall facilitate late registration and birth certificate authentication by the National Statistics Office. Free dog and cat vaccination against rabies is also provided by the City Veterinary Services Office.

The Legal Aid program will promote legal literacy and provide free legal counsel to less privileged residents of Makati. It can also provide assistance on inquiries regarding the status of pending Public Attorney’s Office cases.

Launched last August 13 in Barangay Pio del Pilar, the caravan is being held twice a month in cooperation with the JCBinay Foundation. The second was held in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo last August 27.

The schedule of the caravan for the rest of the year has been set as follows: Brgy. Valenzuela, September 24; Brgy. South Cembo, October 8; Brgy. Bangkal, October 22; Brgy. San Isidro, November 5; Brgy. Pitogo, November 19; Brgy. Carmona, December 3; and Brgy. Pembo, December 10. The venue for each barangay will be announced later.
