PNP-AIDG Chief laments order dissolving his unit

Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) Director Albert Ferro will heed President Rodrigo Duterte’s order that abolishes anti-narcotics unit in the police organization.

But he admits, he is dismayed by PNP-AIDG’s disbandment.

“It is disappointing kasi nagpakahirap tayo, pero yan ang utos ng Pangulo, so susundin natin (it is dissapointing because we worked hard for it, but that it the order of the President, so we will follow),” said Ferro.

The unit’s dissolution comes, following the alleged involvement of some of its members in criminal activities.

Among these members are Superintendent Raphael Dumlao and Ricky Sta. Isabel, who are tagged in the abduction and killing of Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo on October 18, 2016.

This development comes, amid President Duterte’s announcement that he is extending his war against illegal drugs until the end of his term in 2022.
