Red rainfall alert raised in eight areas

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has been located 290 kilometers south of Mindanao.

This is based on weather bureau PAGASA’s bulletin at 11 am Saturday.

The trough of the LPA and the tail-end of a cold front are expected to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the regions of Eastern Visayas, CARAGA, Davao, Northern Midanao and in the provinces of Bohol, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Lanao del Sur.

Red rainfall warning is currently up over Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Agusal del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.  

Red rainfall warning means severe and relentless downpour is ongoing for one or two hours.

Serious flooding is expected in low-lying areas and near river channels and landslides may hit in mountainous areas.

Yellow rainfall warning is up over Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Compostela Valley, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Sarangani, Sulu and Tawi Tawi.

Yellow rainfall warning means heavy rain is falling and it will last for one or two hours.

Floodings and landslides are possible in affected areas.
