Dela Rosa: Evidence vs. Sta. Isabel in Jee’s murder is overwhelming

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald dela Rosa told senators that all pieces of evidence pointed to SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel as the killer of Korean Hanjin executive Jee Ick Joo.

Dela Rosa noted, among the proof linking Sta. Isabel to the murder was his frequent trips to the subdivision where the victim lived.

Sta. Isabel had reportedly given a fictitious name to the security guards.

The PNP Chief also said, a CCTV showed that Sta. Isabel had withdrawn money from Jee’s ATM account.

“Overwhelming ang evidence laban sa kanya (the evidence against him is overwhelming),” Dela Rosa concluded.

When asked why Sta. Isabel and other police officers tagged in the crime seemed to be so bold in operating extortion activities, Dela Rosa said, “baka nasilaw sa pera, pero hindi naman nila madadala ang pera sa langit (it’s the attraction to money, but money cannot be brought to heaven).”

Jee’s helper, Marissa Morquicho, also identified Sta. Isabel as the one who entered her employer Jee’s house in Angeles, Pampanga on October 18, 2016.

Dela Rosa and Morquicho were among the resource persons who testified during Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs' hearing on Thursday into the death of the Korean businessman while in custody of the police in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
