The 3,166 rank-and-file employees and 36 high-ranking officials of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) will receive bonus in their salaries this month.
Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon cites the high collection performance of the agency as reason.
Faeldon says, for the month of December last year, BOC was able to surpass its target collection of P 35 billion by 100.2 percent.
In November 2016, BOC also exceeded its target collection of P 36 billion – a first time in almost two years.
Meanwhile, Faeldon also reports, he has removed the accreditation of some importers and brokers with pending cases.
BOC bears the image of being the most corrupt government agency of government.
