Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to visit the Philippines this week.

Malacañang says, Abe will arrive on Thursday (January 12) and will stay here for two days.

Abe will also go to President Rodrigo Duterte’s house in Davao City.

The Japanese leader first met Duterte on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Vientiane, Laos in September last year.

Abe had described Duterte as a “rock star” in Japan.

The two met again the following month on October 26, 2916 when Duterte visited Tokyo.

Duterte had called Abe “a special friend who is closer than a brother.”
