The Ombudsman is set to reopen its investigation into the so-callled Davao Death Squad (DDS).
Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur Carandang says, the resumption of the probe will be based on the criminal complaint filed against President Rodrigo Duterte by self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato last December 9.
Carandang will head the investigating panel because Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales is inhibiting herself from the case.
Morales is Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte’s aunt-in-law.
It has been nearly a year when the Ombudsman dismissed a case on the alleged DDS due to lack of evidence.
