Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III promises that some fifty percent of contractual employees in the different agencies, bureaus, government financial institutions and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) will be occupying permanent positions beginning next year.
He says, this comes as a result of the efforts of the Duterte administration to put an end to rampant contractualization in the bureaucracy.
Bello reports, all the necessary actions have been completed by the concerned government agencies to facilitate the provision of permanent positions to their contractual workers, while the regularization of the remaining contractual workers will be continuing up to next year.
He also notes, “we might allow contractualization up to a certain extent but the contractual workers who will be hired must be given their benefits so they can enjoy the privileges that go with it.”
