Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army (CPP/NPA) leaders Benito and Wilma Tiamzon have been released from their detention cells at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The couple were earlier allowed by Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) to post bail so they can attend the GPH-CPP/NPA/NDF peace talks in Oslo, Norway.

They are now proceeding to the Department of Foreign Affairs to process their passports.

The Tiamzons were arrested by operatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippines (PNP) in March, 2014 in Barangay Zaragoza, Aloguinsan, Cebu.

This was based on warrants of arrest for crimes against humanity that include murder, multiple murders and frustrated murder.
