Operatives of PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and PNP Regional Office raided the Abuyog penal colony in Leyte.
One inmate was killed as a result of the raid on Thursday morning.
He was identified as Edgar Allen Alvarez, who faced a murder case.
Authorities conducted an operation in Leyte’s regional prison facility over suspicions that this is where Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa’s son Kerwin is allegedly getting his supply of illegal drugs.
Search operations inside the quarters of inmates are ongoing.
