At least 13 hostages have been rescued after security forces ended a siege at a café in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Saturday.

Tuhin Mohammad Masud, Commander of the elite Rapid Action Battalion which stormed the café, says three of those rescued were foreigners while 10 were locals.

Masud also reveals six of the hostage-takers were shot dead.

Army spokesman Colonel Rashidul Hasan says, “the operation is over. The situation is completely under control.”

At least 2 police officers were reportedly killed in the initial part of the siege that ended the hostage-taking of dozens of diners.
