Brawner happy with soldiers on duty during midterm polls

Military top brass Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. expressed his gratitude on Tuesday to all military personnel for their efforts in ensuring the success of the May 12 midterm elections.

In a statement, Brawner highlighted the armed forces’ steadfast commitment to their duties, which included securing polling stations, transporting election materials, and safeguarding citizens in vulnerable areas.

These efforts, he said, were instrumental in achieving a fair, orderly, and credible election process.

“You have once again proven that the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) remains a steadfast and non-partisan pillar of democracy,” Brawner added.

The AFP chief also acknowledged the trust and unity of Filipino citizens, emphasizing that their active participation and vigilance are the cornerstone of the nation’s democracy.

“Let me assure everyone that the AFP’s role in safeguarding our democratic institutions does not end today. We remain fully committed to supporting the Commission on Elections, the Philippine National Police and other agencies as we move forward—protecting the peace, respecting the will of the people and upholding the rule of law,” Brawner said.
