Long lines, limited space: Senior voters endure heat in Makati precinct

Voters at San Antonio High School in Makati faced long lines and cramped waiting areas early Monday morning, as the 2025 national elections saw a surge in turnout, especially among senior citizens.

By 7:11 a.m., the school’s waiting room was already packed, with many elderly voters enduring the morning heat.

While voting began on time at 5:00 a.m. and continued smoothly, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) appeared unprepared for the volume of voters, particularly the elderly ones.

Special rooms were designated for senior citizens, but voters said these were not enough to accommodate the crowd. Technical glitches in the machines also contributed to the delay.

As the morning progressed, the waiting area filled with a mix of all age groups, further crowding the space.

Residents are hoping for better crowd management as voting continues until 7 p.m.
