Senator Ronald Dela Rosa on Sunday welcomed Vice President Sara Duterte’s endorsement of candidates allied with former President Rodrigo Duterte, calling it a significant advantage for the upcoming midterm elections.
“This is a big boost to our chances of winning,” he said, noting that Duterte’s strong trust rating could sway many of her supporters.
Pulse Asia’s March 2025 Ulat ng Bayan survey showed the Vice President’s approval rating rose from 52% to 59%, while her trust rating increased from 53% to 61%. “Out of all the national leaders, she has the highest trust rating. That means she has a lot of followers,” Dela Rosa said.
The Vice President recently urged voters to back a slate of candidates supported by her father, including Senators Dela Rosa and Bong Go, along with lawyers Jimmy Bondoc, Jayvee Hinlo, Raul Lambino, actor Philip Salvador, SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, and Doctor Erik Mata.
“Bloc voting is the key. One vote. One direction. One goal. Continue what President Duterte started,” VP Duterte said, rallying support for the group.
Dela Rosa expressed satisfaction that despite his “guerilla style” campaign strategy, he remained within the Magic 12—the candidates projected to secure Senate seats. “I feel happy. The numbers are rising,” he added.
