Senatorial candidate and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo welcomed the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) dismissal of the second disqualification case against him.
The Comelec’s First Division said petitioner Berteni Causing failed to submit proof of service of petition with complete annexes to the respondent, therefore failing to comply with all the mandatory requirements.
“This decision by the Comelec once again confirms its strong vigilance for an honest, fair, and integrity-based implementation of election laws,” Tulfo said in a statement.
The lawmaker expressed deep gratitude for this development.
“I also thank our legal team, led by lawyer Karen Jimeno, for their tireless efforts to help my case overcome the obstacles it has faced,” Tulfo said.
“Above all, I am grateful for the continued trust and support of our countrymen,” he added.
The Comelec First Division junked the disqualification case filed by lawyer Virgilio Garcia against Erwin and the four other Tulfos seeking reelection, citing his alleged failure to submit all the required documents, including the respondents’ certificates of candidacy (COC).
