A party-list lawmaker condemned the alleged use of a public school in Davao City for the campaign activities of detained Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is facing child sex trafficking charges.
“It is deeply disturbing that a public educational institution is allegedly being used as a platform for what appears to be campaign activities for someone facing such grave charges against women and children,” Rep. Arlene Brosas of Gabriela Women’s Party said.
The lawmaker was referring to a recent ceremony at the Jose T. Quiboloy Sr. National High School where city government-funded projects were inaugurated, with representatives of Quiboloy in attendance.
“What message are we conveying to our youth if we celebrate people accused of abusing women and youth? This is not the kind of example we should be teaching our children,” she said in Filipino.
Brosas sought an immediate investigation into the apparent campaign activities being conducted on behalf of Quiboloy despite his detention.
