Tolentinos, Revillas face no challengers in Cavite

TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite—Candidates from Tagaytay City, led by the influential Tolentino family, are among those running unopposed in Cavite for the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Mayor Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino’s son, Brent, is unopposed in the mayoral race. Re-electionist Vice Mayor Agnes Tolentino also faces no challengers, along with all 10 city councilor candidates, including re-electionist Micko Tolentino, the son of Senator Francis Tolentino.

The other unopposed councilor bets are Jojit Desingaño, Rey Espiritu, Bianca Pello, Annabelle Solis, Leo Angelo De Castro, Fatima Guadana, Jennifer Manguinao, Doroteo Marasigan Jr., and Gener Vergara.

Cavite’s 1st District Board Member, Ram Revilla, is unopposed in the vice gubernatorial race. Similarly, re-electionist Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla (1st District) and Rep. Antonio Ferrer (6th District) have no opponents.

Ten board member candidates across Cavite’s districts are also running unopposed, including Romel Enriquez and Juan Ysmael Gandia (1st District); Edwin Malvar and Alde Pagulayan (2nd District); Ony Cantimbuhan and Lloyd Jaro (3rd District); Aidel Belamide and Ivee Reyes (5th District); and Kerby Salazar and Morit Sison (6th District).

Unchallenged re-electionist mayors include Randy Salamat (Alfonso), Strike Revilla (Bacoor City), Denver Chua (Cavite City), Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV (General Trias City), Francisco ‘Cocoy’ Mendoza (Mendez-Nuñez), and Voltaire Ricafrente (Rosario).

Re-electionist vice mayors Madonna Pel (Alfonso), Joseph Legaspi (Amadeo), Rowena Mendiola (Bacoor City), Jonas Labuguen (General Trias City), and Bamm Gonzales (Rosario) are also guaranteed of victory.

Meanwhile, Comelec is ramping up voter education initiatives and conducting Automated Counting Machine (ACM) roadshow demonstrations in barangays nationwide to prepare voters for the upcoming May elections.

The campaign period for senatorial and party-list candidates begins on February 11, 2025, while the local campaign period for positions such as governor, vice governor, and councilor starts on April 13 and ends on May 10, 2025.
