The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday evening announced the issuance of Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) preventing the implementation of resolutions issued by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) concerning local candidates in the 2025 midterm elections.
The High Tribunal, sitting en banc, ordered the Comelec to prevent the dismissal of Petition for Substitution and Inclusion in the Official List of Candidates/Ballots filed by Marie Grace David, who is running for vice mayor of Limay, Bataan.
Meanwhile, the poll body is also prevented from implementing its Resolutions declaring Mary Dominique Oñate a nuisance candidate for the position of mayor of Palompon, Leyte.
Likewise, the SC put a stop to the implementation of the cancellation of Aldrin Sta. Ana’s certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor of Bocaue, Bulacan — preventing the poll body from deleting Sta. Ana’s name among the local candidafes.
Earlier this week, the High Court also issued TROs prohibiting the disqualification of former Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice along with four other election cases.
