Comelec warns candidates vs. fake officials selling ‘sure win’

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday warned political candidates from individuals claiming to be poll officials offering a “sure win” in the 2025 national and local elections (NLE) in exchange for money.

Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia issued the warning after receiving reports that unscrupulous individuals who introduced themselves as Comelec staff allegedly offered two national bets, four party-list groups, and local aspirants victory in the coming polls.

“Some politicians reported the offer to us. Asking P100 million for congressmen, P70 million to P80 million for governor post,” Garcia said in a radio interview.

“It’s a scam. We have received reports that there are individuals who are going around the country and fooling the public, candidates, or prospective candidates,” he added.

Garcia said he already reported the case to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

He called on the public to immediately report to the Comelec or the NBI any persons offering such a “scheme,” which he said is not possible because the election is automated, computerized, modern, and cannot be manipulated.
