Social Security System (SSS) President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet resigned to join the 2025 midterm elections as a party-list candidate.
The SSS-GSIS Pensyonado party list said that Macasaet submitted his “irrevocable resignation” to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on October 3.
In a letter, Macasaet told the Chief Executive that he would file his certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) under the above party list.
“As former chief of SSS and Government Service Insurance System, Mr. Macasaet has a firm understanding of how the national pension system works, and as a pensioner himself, he knows what the limitations of these institutions are — limitations that may be addressed through legislative representation,” party-list spokesperson Fercival Yutan said.
The group said SSS achieved a record 2.4 million new members for the first seven months of 2024 under Macasaet’s tenure, which began in January 2023.
