Appellate court denies petition for bail of Quiboloy co-accused

THE Court of Appeals (CA) has denied the petition of Ingrid Canada, an official of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) challenging the Pasig Regional Trial Court’s (RTC) denial of her petition for bail in a qualified human trafficking case.

In its resolution promulgated on November 28, the CA’s Tenth Division dismissed the petition for having been filed beyond the prescribed period.

“As alleged on Page 3 of the petition, Canada received a copy of the August 28, 2025 Amended Order on the same date. Hence, she had until October 27, 2025 to file a petition for certiorari. However, she filed the instant petition through LBC Express on October 27, 2025,” the resolution reads.

The appellate court also added that Canada failed to include the People of the Philippines as a respondent, “an indispensable party in the special civil action for certiorari” citing the Rules of Court.

The omission of this fact was deemed fatal, the CA said.

Additionally, Canada failed to attach clear and legible copies of petition for bail and motion for reconsideration.

Canada is one of the co-accused of televangelist Apollo Quiboloy who is facing qualified trafficking charges for allegedly recruiting and abusing KOJC members.
