The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it would run after those behind the P7.8 billion worth of shabu seized in Pangasinan last week as it vowed to sustain aggressive operations against illegal drugs nationwide.
Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez said the successful operation in Pangasinan proves good coordination between the PNP, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and other law enforcement agencies.
He emphasized, however, that the authorities’ relentless campaign against illegal drugs is being conducted in a manner that does not compromise operational procedures and human rights, per the instruction of President Marcos.
“This is a good example of an accomplishment that we can do every day, especially when the community as well as the agencies concerned are in coordination… we assure that we will get to the bottom of this case, by identifying all the personalities involved and filing cases against them,” said Nartatez.
The acting PNP chief also personally inspected the drug haul along with PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez in Pangasinan.
The confiscation of 895 kilograms of shabu was a result of the follow-up operation of a buy-bust in Barangay Polong in Bugallon town, where two big-time drug pushers, including a Chinese national, were collared after they yielded around 125 kilograms of shabu with a street value of P850 million on October 2.
A follow-up operation was conducted the next day, under a search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 70, Burgos, Pangasinan, in a warehouse in Barangay Laois in Labrador.
PDEA and PNP agents were able to recover more or less 895 kilograms of shabu worth approximately ₱6.9 billion.
