3 Chinese nationals violate mining laws
THE Bureau of Immigration has detained three Chinese nationals caught in Cagayan de Oro City for engaging in illegal mining.
Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said aliens identified as Meng Changseng, Wu Peng and Yu Pengze failed to present their passports but had ACR I-Cards showing that they were tourists.
“They are undergoing deportation proceedings for violating our immigration laws,” he said.
On record, they were arrested last Jan. 24 by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group joined by staff belonging to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
They were caught extracting minerals from a site in Barangay Tumpagon, Cagayan de Oro City where they were charged for violating the mining act.
David ordered Manuel Neri, BI alien control officer, to turnover the suspects to the immigration jail in Bicutan, Taguig City.
