The Department of Health (DOH) declined to comment on the new graft charges filed against Secretary Ted Herbosa and 16 other officials at the Office of the Ombudsman.
In a message to reporters, Health Undersecretary Albert Domingo said the agency has yet to receive the full complaint filed by “concerned DOH employees.”
“Before the public now is the latest in a series of persistently anonymous complaints that have not reached the DOH. Out of respect for due process and the work of the Ombudsman, we await the service of official copies,” Domingo said.
Domingo also said that despite being the agency’s spokesperson, he is not in the position to comment on the charges directed against Herbosa.
The complainants accused the DOH chief and other officials of graft over the expiration of medicines and vaccines worth P1.4 billion.
“We, concerned DOH personnel, request the Ombudsman to investigate and indict the Respondents for their corrupt practices, grave misconduct, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service,” the complainants wrote in their statement.
Herbosa is also the subject of other complaints, including the anomalous procurement of Mobile Primary Care Facilities worth P1.8 billion. He has yet to speak on the allegations himself.
