Remains of Pinay caregiver killed in Israel returned to Philippines

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Saturday announced that the remains of a Filipina caregiver, who was killed in a missile attack in Israel, have arrived in the Philippines.

The remains of overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Mary Ann De Vera were received by her family together with government officials.

Meanwhile, DMW officials offered them prayers, condolences, and support alongside the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines Dana Kursh, and several members of Congress.

The Migrant Workers Department earlier assured De Vera’s family that they and the OWWA will give her next of kin full assistance.

It can be recalled that the OFW was escorting her elderly ward to a shelter in Tel Aviv when she was hit by shrapnel from an Iranian missile strike following the United States and Israel’s joint military operation against Tehran.

De Vera is survived by her husband in Israel, her sibling in Qatar, and her family in Pangasinan.
