Benguet, Baguio LGUs adopt compressed 4-day workweek

The Benguet provincial government and the Baguio City government recently adopted the compressed work schedule along with other energy conservation measures pursuant to Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 114 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Benguet adopted the 4-day work week from Mondays to Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., on March 9, 2026 while Baguio will be implementing similar arrangements starting March 16, 2026 where the work schedule will be from Mondays to Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

However, offices providing frontline services in both local governments are exempted from the coverage of the compressed work schedule and will remain in their regular or specialized work schedules depending on their assigned duties and responsibilities.

Similarly, Benguet State University announced it will implement a four-day onsite workweek with offices operating Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The university will also continue to observe its “No Noon Break Policy” to maintain continuous service for stakeholders.

Under the new arrangement, BSU faculty members will follow their regular schedules from Monday to Thursday, while academic-related tasks will be conducted through work-from-home arrangements on Fridays and Saturdays, except for activities that require onsite facilities such as laboratory classes and Related Learning Experience (RLE).

NSTP and ROTC classes scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays may still proceed, while students undergoing On-the-Job Training (OJT), practicum, or RLE are advised to follow the work arrangements set by their respective host or training establishments.
