Fugitive British national arrested in Romblon for overstaying

The Police Regional Office–MIMAROPA (PRO-4A) on Tuesday reported the arrest of a British fugitive in Romblon during a joint operation with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for violation of Republic Act No. 613, or the Revised Immigration Act of 1940.

Authorities identified the fugitive as Andrew Charles Beaumont, 48, a former teacher and scuba instructor. He was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. on February 16 in Sitio Cabalian, Barangay Agmanic, Sta. Fe, Romblon.

Beaumont, who previously lived in Hull, Yorkshire, England, was reportedly residing in Barangay Agpudlos, San Andres, Romblon.

The arrest was carried out under BI Mission Order No. 2026-057 dated February 10.

Initial verification with the BI database showed that Beaumont last entered the Philippines on September 19, 2022 as a temporary visitor under EO 408.

Records indicate his last authorized extension expired on November 17, 2023, making him an overstaying alien.

He is now under the custody of CIDG Romblon PFU for documentation and will be turned over to the BI Fugitive Search Unit for immigration detention and further processing.

PRO-4A chief Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua underscored the importance of coordinated enforcement efforts.

“This successful operation reflects what we can achieve through disciplined policing and strong inter-agency coordination,” Badua said.

“I commend and thank our partner units and the Bureau of Immigration for the swift collaboration that ensured a lawful arrest and upheld the rule of law,” he added.

The operation involved personnel from PIT Romblon, RIU 4B, the PNP Intelligence Group, FILD-IG, Romblon Provincial Field Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG 4B), the BI Fugitive Search Unit, the Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-MIMAROPA, Sta. Fe Municipal Police Station, Romblon PPO, and the Naval Intelligence Security Unit-34 of the Naval Intelligence Security Group Southern Luzon.
