The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday said that it will maximize its partnership with other Southeast Asian countries in its push for artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
In the recently held AI Ready ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) program, Education Secretary Sonny Angara expressed his desire to boost the department’s capabilities for learners and educators nationwide.
“The Philippines does not see the digital race as a solitary journey. We stand ready to walk alongside our ASEAN neighbors—sharing our insights, our resources, and our steadfast commitment,” Angara said as quoted in a press statement.
“A future-ready ASEAN cannot be built on guesswork or lofty rhetoric alone. It must be grounded in the lived realities of our people,” he added, emphasizing that ASEAN countries can build a progressive nation through AI knowledge.
The DepEd, along with the ASEAN Foundation, launched AGAP.ai on January 9 to integrate new technologies in the learning process for students and teachers alike.
