ACTING Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte on Friday formally assumed the post as the city’s chief executive while his nephew, Rodrigo Duterte II, took his oath as vice mayor of Mindanao’s premier city.
Both were sworn in at the city hall by Judge Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas, deputy executive judge of the Davao City Regional Trial Court.
Sebastian was elected vice mayor in the May 12, 2025 polls while his father, ex-President Rodrigo Duterte was voted in as mayor, but failed to serve his tenure following his arrest and detention at The Hague on orders of the International Criminal Court for alleged crime against humanity.
Rodrigo II was also elected as city councilor in the same political exercise, but served as acting vice mayor to his uncle.
