The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced plans to ensure road safety and orderliness before, during and after the traditional observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
MMDA Chairman Romando Artes convened the agency’s traffic heads on Monday, October 20, initiating preparations for Undas.
According to Artes, the agency will activate “Oplan Undas 2025” from October 25 to November 3.
“The MMDA is all set to undertake measures on traffic management, cleanup operations, road emergency and public assistance, and clearing of road obstructions in preparation for Undas,” he said.
The MMDA will deploy 2,403 personnel, as the “no day-off, no absent” policy will be strictly enforced as part of the agency’s intensified operations.
Artes directed the traffic heads to coordinate with the North Luzon Expressway and South Luzon Expressway for faster vehicular movement in Metro Manila.
Aside from bus terminals, traffic personnel will be deployed to major roads leading to cemeteries and transportation hubs as thousands are expected to travel to their provinces to pay respect to their loved ones.
The Road Emergency Group will also set up public assistance centers with tents and ambulances to provide public assistance and rescue services at Metro Manila’s five major cemeteries, including Manila North Cemetery, South Cemetery, Loyola Memorial Park, Bagbag Public Cemetery, and San Juan Public Cemetery.
The Metro Parkways Clearing Group will assist in conducting cleanup operations in the vicinity of cemeteries and memorial parks, while the team from the Communications and Command Center is tasked with monitoring traffic situations in the metropolis, addressing public concerns, and providing real-time traffic updates.
