Biñan City, Laguna — In celebration of Founder’s Day, the St. Michael’s College of Laguna (SMCL) community held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Beatriz Limaco Almeda (BLA) Hall, a three-storey building to be constructed through the generous sponsorship of friends of Director Anthony L. Almeda in honor of his beloved mother, Mrs. Beatriz Limaco Almeda.
The new BLA Hall will rise on a 480-square-meter property adjacent to the St. Therese Food Court and will serve as the new home for SMCL’s Pre-School and Primary School classes. This landmark project not only underscores SMCL’s commitment to providing a nurturing and dynamic learning environment but also strengthens the institution’s legacy of excellence in basic education.
“Our family dedicates the Beatriz Limaco Almeda Hall as a testament to my mother’s enduring legacy as a founding force of our Institution. This hall will nurture young minds, empowering them to become responsible citizens and dedicated Michaeleans,” Director Almeda shared in his message.
The College community expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Emil Urriquia, LINGAP SMCL Foundation Chair Armita Rufino, Sir Michael Bell, and Sir Victor Consunji for gracing the occasion and supporting this meaningful endeavor.
The Beatriz Limaco Almeda Hall stands as a symbol of faith, family, and the enduring values upon which SMCL was built — a tribute to a matriarch whose vision continues to inspire generations of Michaeleans.
