11,425 aspiring lawyers finish 2025 Bar exams in milestone year

The Supreme Court (SC) announced on Tuesday that 11,425 out of 11,437 takers completed this year’s 2025 Bar examinations, setting a new milestone with the largest number of finishers in Philippine Bar history.

The three-day digitalized examinations—which took place in 14 local testing centers across the country—were held on September 7, 10, and 14.

2025 Bar chairperson and SC Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier highlighted a distinctive feature of this year’s exams focused on the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations (SPJI) 2022-2027.

“It is more than just a test item—it is a tribute, a nod to the SPJI. Its goal is to raise awareness among our new lawyers. New lawyers must align their actions with the four guiding principles and expected outcomes of the SPJI,” Lazaro-Javier said during a turnover ceremony last Sunday.

She added that SPJI is a ‘gift’ from the High Tribunal that must be nurtured by this generation.

Meanwhile, the Thomasian alumna shared that the conduct of the exams was smooth citing no violence or harm to anyone.

She thanked Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, other members of the SC, Bar Head Atty. Maria Michaela M. Billones-Vitug, officials and personnel of the University of Santo Tomas, as well as local government units (LGUs) for their support.

Justice Lazaro-Javier officially handed over the responsibility of administering the 2026 Bar exams to SC Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan, who will serve as chairperson next year.

The Bar Exam Results 2025, including the list of passers and top examinees are expected to be released by the SC by early January 2026, according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board.
