Homeless in Happyland: Fire displaces families in Tondo

At least 1,146 families lost their homes to a 10-hour fire that hit a residential area in Happyland, Tondo, Manila over the weekend.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Manila, the fire began at Buildings 7 and 8 in Barangay 105, Happyland, Tondo at 8:28 p.m. on Saturday.

The flames reached Task Force Bravo and were declared under control at 2:46 a.m. Responders announced fire out at 6:01 a.m. on Sunday.

No one was reported hurt or killed and the arson division is now investigating the cause of fire as well as estimated damage to property.

Meanwhile, the fire victims are temporarily staying at the Barangay 105 Covered Court in Vicente Lim Elementary School and Barangay 101 Covered Court at the Antonio Villegas High School.
