PBBM eyes ‘big fish’ to stop corruption in gov’t infra projects

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed to pursue ‘big fish’ or the influential individuals involved in the numerous irregularities related to publicly funded infrastructure projects that have occurred over several decades.

In the second part of his interview aired Monday, President Marcos said they must be held accountable and face the legal consequences for their corrupt practices.

“If they are finally out of action, change will happen because they are the ones running (the scheme),” he said.

“Because you cannot dismantle the system if you don’t remove those players. So, we have to get rid of those players whoever they are to improve the system and run it better,” Mr. Marcos emphasized.

President Marcos has expressed shock and anger over the scope of corruption in government.

He said his administration is working on an executive order to establish an independent commission that will thoroughly investigate allegations of irregularities and corruption in Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects.

President Marcos also said that legal actions will be taken against parties and entities involved in all DPWH projects.
